About the University of “La Tuscia”
The Athenaeum Linguistic Centre (CLA) of the University of Tuscia in Viterbo, near Rome, was founded in 2005 with the aim of promoting foreign languages learning within the athenaeum and, more generally, all over the country, through both traditional and innovative teaching methodologies. The languages presently taught are Arabic, Czech, French, English, Persian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian and German. From April 2007 language teaching was improved by resorting to the open source e-learning platform “Moodle” to convey a course on Management and Organizational Sciences to learners aged form 35 onwards. Largely used in this context are chat, videoconferencing and podcasting sessions. Before the course was launched, the platform and its functions were thoroughly tested until the expected level of usability was achieved. Guidelines were specially developed to ensure the realization and maintenance of a certain standards. These are continuously verified and updated, and will be disseminated and re-elaborated within the partnership, for mutual fruition.
